Terms of Use

MonkeyChords · effective 13 August 2026

MonkeyChords is a tool for organising chord sheets you are entitled to use. It is provided as it is, with no warranty, and what you do with other people's music remains your responsibility.

The licence you get

You may install and use MonkeyChords on devices you control, for personal or professional music-making. You may not resell it, or redistribute a modified copy of it.

The free trial, and buying the app

MonkeyChords is free to use in full for 30 days. Nothing is limited during that time and nothing is switched off part-way through. When the trial ends, a one-time purchase is required to carry on using the app.

The trial runs on the device it started on. Restoring a backup carries its trial age with it, so restoring an older library does not hand you a fresh 30 days.

Your songs and setlists remain yours whether or not you buy. Nothing is deleted when the trial ends, and the app will always let you export your whole library to a file you keep — that option sits on the same screen that asks you to buy.

The purchase is a one-time payment, not a subscription. It is sold and processed by Google Play: the developer never sees your payment details. Refunds follow Google Play's refund policy. The purchase is tied to your Google account rather than to a device, so it carries to a new phone — use Restore purchase in the app if it does not appear straight away.

Chord sheets and copyright

Song lyrics and chord arrangements are usually protected by copyright, and MonkeyChords does not grant you any rights to them. The app fetches pages from third-party websites at your request and stores what you choose to keep, in the same way a web browser does.

You are responsible for making sure you are entitled to:

A file you share carries the full text of every song in it. Sending one is a distribution, and it is yours to be sure of.

Third-party websites

The built-in browser reaches sites the developer does not run and cannot vouch for. Their terms and privacy policies govern your use of them. Those sites may change at any time, which may stop the app importing from them until it is updated.

No warranty

MonkeyChords is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. It is not guaranteed to be uninterrupted or error-free.

Your data is your responsibility

Your library lives on your device. Uninstalling the app, resetting the device, or losing it will take your songs and setlists with it. The app can keep a copy in a folder you choose, or in your own Google Drive, and you are strongly encouraged to set one of those up — but keeping a usable backup is ultimately yours to do. To the extent the law allows, the developer is not liable for lost data or lost work.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

Changes

These terms may be revised; the current version is always the one published here.
